Adapalene is a new naphthoic acid derivatives developed by the French company Galdeama Laboratories. It was first marketed in France in June 1996 and is mainly used to improve inflammatory skin lesions and regulate hair follicles , Sebaceous gland epithelial cell differentiation and acne treatment.
Adapalene is a retinoid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in in vivo and in vitro inflammatory models, is chemically stable, does not decompose readily in air and light.
