Oleamide, also known as Cerebrodiene, is an organic compound and the primary amide derived from oleic acid ODA (octadecanoamide). Oleic Acid is an omega-9 fatty acid from olive oil.Oleamide is colorless and has a waxy solid texture. Oleamide was first isolated from the spinal fluid of sleep-deprived cats. Sometimes Oleamide is classified as a fatty acid primary amide (FAPA) and occurs naturally in animals and accumulates in the cerebrospinal fluid when the body is experiencing sleep deprivation. The natural occurrence of Oleamide in human serum was first reported in 1989.
