Dihydrohonokiol is soluble in benzene, ether, , but hardly soluble in water. It is easily soluble in dilute alkaline solution to obtain sodium salt. It is a chemical substance with the structural formula C18H18O2.

Dihydrohonokiol is a bioactive compound from Magnolia officinalis bark. It belongs to the sesquiterpenoid phenolic compounds. It is a brown to white fine powder with a fragrant smell, spicy taste and slightly bitter taste. The monomer is a colorless needle-shaped crystal (water) with a melting point of 102°C. It is soluble in benzene, ether, , commonly used organic solvents, difficult to dissolve in water, and easily soluble in dilute caustic alkali solutions to obtain sodium salts. It reacts solution to produce a blue-black color; reacts with Millen's reagent to produce a brown precipitate; reacts solution to produce a red precipitate.
