Catechin, also known as Catechin acid and Caredhieacid, is a kind of phenolic active substance extracted from natural plants such as tea leaves. The relative molecular weight of catechin was 290.28. It is a white acicular crystal (water-acetic acid), melting point 212~216 C, soluble in hot water, ethanol, glacial acetic acid, slightly soluble in cold water and , almost insoluble in benzene, and silica gel ether.
