Adapalene is a new naphthoic acid derivatives developed by the French company Galdeama Laboratories. It was first marketed in France in June 1996  and is mainly used to improve inflammatory skin lesions and regulate hair follicles , Sebaceous gland epithelial cell differentiation and acne treatment.
Adapalene is a retinoid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in in vivo and in vitro inflammatory models, is chemically stable, does not decompose readily in air and light. The mechanism of action is the same as that of retinoic acid and binds to specific retinoid receptors, with the difference that adapalene does not bind to protein-bound cytoplasmic receptors. Dermatological testing in animal models established in mice has demonstrated that adapalene can treat acne and also has an effect on acne vulgaris and the process of differentiation. The mechanism of action is to reduce the formation of small acne by normal differentiation of hair follicle cells. In standard in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory assays. Adaptant is superior to retinoid acid in that it inhibits the chemotactic response of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and inhibits the metabolism of polymorphic nucleocapsids by inhibiting the conversion of arachidonic acid to adipogenic mediators via lipid oxidation , Thereby alleviating the inflammatory response mediated by cellular responses. Application&Function
