1. Prostaglandin E2 is the most common and biologically potent of mammalian prostaglandins. Oxytocic; abortifacient.
2. Prostaglandin E2 for use in cell culture applications for the study of prostaglandin regulated cell signaling and gene regulation.
3. Prostaglandin E2 is a uterine stimulant. Used to induce labour in pregnancy, induce abortion in mid-term pregnancy and therapeutic abortion and preoperative cervical dilation. In a few cases, chills, vomiting and mild diarrhoea may occur, which usually resolve on their own within a short time or are easily controlled with symptomatic treatment. The symptoms are similar to phlebitis when administered intravenously and disappear on their own when the drug is stopped. Monitor the contractions closely during administration and adjust the dose at any time to prevent uterine rupture due to strong contractions.
