Tropisetron hydrochloride is a potent and selective 5HT3 receptor antagonist. It was developed by Novartis and listed in the UK in 1992 under the trade name Navoban. It is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The drug has been on the market in dozens of countries around the world. At present, its indications have been expanded to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting in children after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and to prevent and treat postoperative nausea and vomiting in adults.
